We have been delighted that Dr Susan Kay-Williams, Chief Executive of the Royal School of Needlework and author of The Story of Colour in Textiles, has twice made the journey from her base at Hampton Court Palace to consult our records for her current research.
Susan explained, "I have been looking at textile dyeing and have been pleased to find ledgers from various companies showing the development of synthetic dyes and how individual companies approached learning about and achieving these new colours. The Bradford College Textile Archive is a wonderful resource for researchers. It has such a wealth of material, from students' notebooks to sample books, to the working books of both companies and individual chemsists. In the true sense, it is there to be explored - it may not contain something that you wish it did, but undoubtedly you will find something that more than makes the visit worthwhile."
