Liz Clay

It was such a treat to welcome contemporary felt artist Liz Clay to the Archive in February 2014 - she brought an absolute treasure trove of her exquisite experimental felt fabrics to show to us! Shunning the more traditional and prized merino fibres used for felt making, Liz embraces the challenge to experiment with what many consider 'throw away wools' predominantly from non-commercial breeds of sheep, to create her delicate and beautiful haute couture fabrics.

We look forward to accessioning Liz's PhD thesis along with some accompanying experimental fine craft felt making pieces shortly , and hope we can offer inspiration to students and researchers for generations to come. Watch this space - we hope Liz will join us in many more exciting projects!
